The Easybeats became a hugely popular group when they hit the charts with 'Friday On My Mind' in 1966. The song was hailed as a pop classic and was considered the 'ultimate anthem of disaffected youth'. Young British and Dutch immigrants to Australia had formed The Easybeats in 1965 and were seen as the first international pop stars. The line up included Harry Vanda (guitar), Dick Diamonde (bass), Steve Wright (vocals), George Young, (guitar) and Gordon 'Snowy' Fleet (drums). George was the elder brother of Angus and Malcolm Young of AC/DC fame. Originally inspired by The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, The Easybeats were hugely popular in Australia before moving to England. They had four Number One hits and most of the songs were written by Wright, Young and Vanda. 'Easy' was their debut album, first released in 1965. Among the 14 original album tracks and eight bonus tracks, we have included 'For My Woman', recorded in Sydney. Their international hit 'Friday On My Mind' was recorded in London with producer Shel Talmy, and featured on this CD is a different mix of the song. Among other bonus items are rare B-sides and more fascinating alternate mixes, as well as a 'live' version of 'She's So Fine', the group's first big Australian hit. Here is a great chance to experience once again the youthful zest of the group from 'Down Under' that conquered the world.
8 Bonus rare tracks! Booklet with authoritative and extensive liner notes by respected author and journalist Chris Welch, including quotes from Harry Vanda. Original LP sleeve notes reproduced. Expertly remastered - superb sound quality.
