LPCDreissues: Looking forward to the past

Yesterday & Today (later known as Y&T) was a hard rock band formed in 1974 in Oakland, California. The band was led by Dave Meniketti (vocals/guitar) and became known for their powerful guitar-driven sound, melodic hooks, and energetic live performances. Initially, their music blended blues-based hard rock with heavy metal influences, which later evolved into a more polished, radio-friendly style in the 1980s.

The band started under the name Yesterday & Today, inspired by The Beatles' album of the same name. They released their first two albums under this name before shortening it to Y&T in 1981.

This was Y&T’s debut album, showcasing their early hard rock sound with blues influences. Unlike their later, more polished heavy metal style, Yesterday & Today had a raw, unfiltered energy, driven by gritty guitar work and Meniketti's powerful vocals.

The album didn't achieve massive commercial success but set the foundation for the band’s future. It became a cult favorite among rock fans who appreciated its straightforward, unpretentious rock and roll.
