Starting life as the Hangman, they changed their name to 5 Canadians and were publicised as hailing from Toronto. Despite the confusion concerning their origins, what is not in doubt is the testosterone drive of their music. Writing on the Wall with its pounding beat and wild screams is rightfully regarded as a classic of the garage genre and no collection is complete without it. Goodnight is an excellent soulful teen ballad.
