Individual copies are very rare and expensive.Rick Roberts was born in Florida. Growing up, he was a big fan of the Byrds. Later he lived in Washington, D.C., South Carolina, and Colorado, where he performed in clubs. At 19, he hitchhiked to LA to hit the big time. After a year of knocking on doors, Roberts came to the attention of Ed Tickner, at that time manager of the Flying Burrito Brothers. Tickner introduced Roberts to the Burritos, who had been working as a four-piece since the departure of Gram Parsons about four months earlier.Rick Roberts replaced Gram Parsons in the early 1970s, Rick had sung (unaccredited) on The Byrds’ ‘Untitled’ LP (Columbia) earlier that year. With Roberts in the Burritos, they recorded their third album ‘The Flying Burrito Bros.’ (released in June ’71 by A&M), and ‘Last Of The Red Hot Burritos’, the fourth and final new LP (February ’72, A&M).After a tour of Europe with the remnants of the Burritos, Rick Roberts then embarked on a solo career, releasing two albums under his own name during 1972 and 1973, ‘Windmills’and ‘She Is A Song’. ‘She Is A Song’was produced by Chris Hillman and Rick’s songs were published by Stephen Stills’ publishing company.
