Mastered from the original 1972 LP, of which less than ten copies were originally pressed. NTP had previously cut a delicate self-titled LP in 1969, but this release saw them make a quantum leap into the underground, with deceptively simple, melodic druggy ballads rubbing shoulders with distorted guitars on basement downer work-outs. Steadily building in intensity over two sides the material strikes an incredible balance between woozy weirdness, rock-outs replete with acerbic Lennon-esque put-downs, and baroque navel-gazing. The sound of rainy afternoons in a London squat, old copies of OZ on a white table, joss-sticks burning, gooseberry wine and Moroccan hash.
