This is Red Crayola's debut album, originally released on International Artists. When Red Crayola first appeared on the Houston scene in 1966, they were performing almost all cover material. However, the band soon began dedicating portions of their set to unique improvised moments called "The Freedom Freekout" during which they would invite other musicians on stage to play. These improv sessions soon resulted in the formation of a companion group called The Familiar Ugly, which can be heard in between tracks on this album. Aside from these "freakouts", the album includes other very weird material, and features Roky Erikson on at least two tracks. Also available on CD (SPOT 507).
