LPCDreissues: Looking forward to the past

The latest in Ace’s series of reissues of original Modern/Flair/RPM repertopire turns the spotlight once again on the Modern label’s first lady, Ms Hadda Brooks. THAT’S WHERE I CAME IN features Hadda’s vocal interpretations of two dozen pop and R&B standards, all rendered in her uniquely intimate style with (mostly) small group accompaniment. More than three quarters of the tracks featured are previously unissued - indeed, most of them have indeed only been discovered during the past couple of years. All tracks were recorded between 1946 and 1947. Handsomely complements Ace’s previous two Hadda packages “Romance In The Dark” (CDCHD 453) and “Swingin’ The Boogie” (CDCHM 889). A further volume of Hadda Brooks’ later Modern and Crown sides is in the works for early 2006.
