This classic 1970 album, finally re-released on vinyl, is one of the Meters' finest. Often considered the founding fathers of funk, their trademark New Orleans sound, has made them one of the genre's most influential groups. Between 1967 and 1969, their "Sophisticated Cissy", "Cissy Strut", "Ease Back", and "Look Ka Py Py" all reached the Top 10 on the R&B charts. For their 1970 release, the band took their signature sound and added vocals to the mix, with Art Neville singing the leads on Ty Hunter's "Darling, Darling, Darling," Jimmy Webb's "Wichita Lineman," and Lee Dorsey's "Ride Your Pony".
