Lead by Tony McPhee, this is one of the foremost bands from the British Blues scene of the late-sixties, which went on to lead in the progressive scene as well. They toured and played so often with John Lee Hooker, that they also became known as John Lee’s Groundhogs. They also played with such notable blues pros as Jimmy Reed, Little Walter and Memphis Slim. This album was one of their later works recorded live in studio, in 1968, just prior to a major tour with Hooker. There were no overdubs, which offers a raw and exciting view of the band while still in its blues stage.
