McKendree Spring was an American rock band formed in 1968. The original members were Fran McKendree (vocals, guitar), Spencer Michaels (vocals, guitar), Martin Slutsky (violin), Mike Dreyfuss (bass), and Fred Holman (drums). They were known for their folk-rock sound with elements of classical and progressive rock.
The band released a series of albums in the late 1960s and throughout the 1970s. Some of their notable albums include "McKendree Spring" (1969), "3" (1971), and "Spring Suite" (1972). They were recognized for their strong vocal harmonies and the integration of the violin, which gave their music a distinctive quality.
"McKendree Spring" is their debut studio album and showcases the band's musical versatility, combining acoustic and electric elements with Fran McKendree's distinctive vocals and Spencer Michaels' guitar work.
