Larry Page, well known producer of The Kinks and The Troggs plus running the successful labels Page One and Penny Farthing became his own artist on six occasions through the 60’s as leader of the Larry Page Orchestra. Like fellow producer John Schroeder, Larry saw the huge potential in alternative arrangements of pop hits as played by a pop band backed by a full orchestra. He made six albums between 1965 and 1971 all recorded at the top studios of the day with the best session players and the resulting sound quality is excellent.
First up is a straight reissue of "Kinky Music." In 1965 unbeknown to The Kinks Larry booked the studio and musicians and blazed through his favourite twelve Kinks songs. The arrangements really swing, there is plenty of gritty guitar work and swirling Hammond playing and far from being pastiches of the Kinks undeniably brilliant originals, The Larry Page Orchestra versions easily stand up on their own. Accordingly the original LP is a prized collectors item and on the reissue we have added some previously unseen photo stills of The Kinks in America from Larry’s own camera.

The second Larry Page release compiles the best tracks from Larry’s other five albums: Executive Suite, From Larry With Love, Instrumentally Yours, This Is Larry Page, Presenting Larry Page- all released between 1967 & 1971. Songs selected are mostly well known but the arrangements and performance take them well away from the original versions into perfect Loungecore and Easy Club Land. The sleeve notes are based around interviews with Larry into how and why these albums were made, and the packaging includes the original albums sleeves plus some suitably groovy new artwork from Phil Smee.
