Brothers from another mother is a jazz music collective that was created by drummer Spyros Panagiotopoulos in 2015 and since then has a long series of performances in the jazz scenes of Athens. The group initially started to convert selected standards from the hard pop era of jazz, namely from the period 1955 – 1965.In the process, the members of the group began to work on their own compositions influenced by the style and aesthetics of that era to get to the spring of 2019, when they recorded in just five hours at ERT’s E studio the material of their first album which is titled “Happy hour”. The album is released by Ikaros Music, produced by the Third Programme of Hellenic Radio.
The members of the group are six important figures of the local jazz scene from different age generations and musical backgrounds in an ecrectic mixture of people with a common vision and aesthetics but above all with the same passion and love for music and jazz, which they bring to the audience with the energy and truth that come out of their playing and compositions and through which they have evolved into one of the most pure and powerful jazz groups of the domestic scene.
"Happy Hour" is the debut album by Brothers From Another Mother (B.F.A.M.), a Greek jazz sextet known for their dynamic blend of hard bop, modal, and post-bop styles. Released in 2020 by Ikaros Music, the album features nine original compositions that showcase the ensemble's cohesive interplay and individual virtuosity.
The album was recorded live in a single five-hour session at Studio E of the Greek Radio and Television (ERT) in February 2018, capturing the spontaneous energy and chemistry of the group.
