In early 1965, Mother McCree's Uptown Jug Champions went electric and became the Warlocks. By the end of the year they were the Grateful Dead, and firmly established as one of San Francisco's top psychedelic bands.
The two shows captured here were broadcast on FM radio (KSAN & KPFA). The tight and exciting Fillmore set focuses on uptempo material (with especially prominent contributions from McKernan), while the Avalon set finds them on more overtly trippy form.
It's presented together with background notes and images.
