Bloodrock 3 is the third album by the Texan hard rock band Bloodrock, released on Capitol Records in 1971. Significantly better produced than either of the band's first two albums, it features much the same heady mix of fast, exciting, Hendrix-inspired hard rock and long sombre tracks. The outstanding development with this album was the maturation of singer Jim Rutledge's vocal style. On the band's first two albums, Rutledge often sounds raw and inexperienced. By contrast, the songs on this album are sung impeccably and his performances easily entitle him to a place among the great rock singers of the early 70s. The opening track, Jessica, is probably the band's most infectious up-tempo track. Otherwise, it is the slower, more haunting tracks - Song for a Brother and (extended cut) Breach of Lease - that command attention this time around.
