180g LP If there's one band that sums up guitar virtuosos with vocal inspiration
and a white blues rhythm section straight from the speakeasy London
sound of Alexis Korner's Blues Inc., then it is certainly Pentangle. The
ineffable Bert Jansch and John Renbourn on guitars, the subtle singing
of Jacqui McShee and the jazz blues oriented drum and bass of Terry
Cox and Danny Thompson made Pentangle one of the most enjoyable
folk rock groups (but can this limited definition really describe the 360° musical talent of this
combo?) and 1969's Basket of Light (their third album) a piece of pop music unlikely to be topped.
Originally released on Transatlantic, the album features "Light Flight" of the BBC's Take Three Girls
fame, the splendid "Sally Go Round The Roses" and "House Carpenter", to cite just a few.
