Digipack CD Classic album from one of prog rock's
leading exponents - with a different
line up featuring electric violinist
Eddie Jobson and guitarist Kirby.
Booklet with authoritative and
extensive liner notes by respected
author and journalist Chris Welch.
Expertly remastered - superb sound. In 1970, original Curved Air member Darryl Way had given fresh prominence to the electric violin as a lead instrument
in rock when he formed Curved Air with singer Sonja Kristina. After initial success, the original group line up was
suspended for after a particularly gruelling US tour.
Sonja Kristina then fronted a revamped version of the band that introduced two teenage prodigies, the violinist Eddie
Jobson, who later found fame with Roxy Music, and Kirby Gregory, the guitarist who subsequently joined Stretch.
This line up of Curved Air, with Jim Russell (drums) and Mike Wedgwood (bass), recorded 'Air Cut' with producer
Martin Rushent in 1973. These eight prog rock classic tracks, including Sonja's composition 'The Purple Speed Queen',
show Curved Air didn't waste any time during Darryl's absence and maintained their dynamic and high standard of
musicianship . Track listing: -The Purple Speed Queen
