Information

  • Format: CD
  • Label: Beat Goes On
  • Genre: Blues, Soul, Funk
Originally released on Mike Vernon's excellent Blue Horizon label in 1968 and subsequently on the equally excellent Beat Goes On label in 1993. After losing the rights for a few years we have now regained them, and are pleased to be re-promoting this release again in 2001 * Edward Riley Boyd was born on a Mississippi plantation owned by one Frank Moore, which adjoined the larger Stovall plantation. William Boyd (Eddie's father) was 27 when Edward was born; his mother was 14. His father told Eddie that he was born on November 25th 1914, but when Eddie came to get a passport for the 1965 American Folk Blues Festival tour, his birth certificate showed that his birth had been registered on November 13. "So I'm a proud fellow because I got two birthdays", he told Mike Vernon * When coming to organise the musicians to back him on this record, Mike Vernon had a little problem as Eddie had been playing several college and club dates with the original Fleetwood Mac, and had been warmly welcomed and dispatched with even greater friendliness. It is them - Peter Green, John McVie and Mick Fleetwood - from that all-time classic line up of the band who are backing Eddie here * Full sleevenotes from Neil Slaven and Mike Vernon track listing: .
