The band's name is a combination of two Chinese words, "Kin Ping" and "Meh," and they became known for their blues-influenced rock sound. The original lineup included Werner Stephan (vocals), Joachim Schaffer (guitar), Fritz Schmitt (keyboards), Torsten Herzog (bass), and Kalle Weber (drums).
